Bladder cancer is the 5th most common type of cancer in the western world, yet its symptoms are often confused with other issues, at times leading to misdiagnosis. 

Fight Bladder Cancer is a chairty that started from a personal battle – Andrew Winterbottom, an Oxfordhsire man, was diagnosed with Stage 4 G3 bladder cancer in 2009. He and a fellow patient realised there was no dedicated charity in the UK to assist those affected. They set up a bladder cancer support group, which has since grown to a nationally recognised charity. Their campaigns include ‘Wee Walks’ throughout May (which is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month).

On 22nd May, 17 walkers set off on the Jennings Wee Walk. It was lovely to meet up, get out in the fresh air and raise both money and awareness for this worthy cause – well done to everyone that joined in!

Andrew never gave up; his determination and courage have been an inspiration to many. He died peacefully on 31st May, though his amazing legacy lives on through the continued work of the charity, changing lives for all those affected by bladder cancer.
